Population

The Register of Causes of Death has existed in its current form since 1973.

Variables

In addition to name, address and civil reg. no., the Register of Causes of Death contains information on the time of death, the causes of death, the age at the time of death, the manner and place of death and local municipality.

When a person in Denmark dies, a doctor performs a post-mortem examination. The doctor fills in a death certificate and reports the death by submitting the certificate to the Danish Health Authority.
